Group QuestionAnswer the following question based on the information g...
Solution: From the 1st table, population of India in the year 2011 is 1210 million. Now, this is 17.86% of the total population (say x). 17.86x= 1210 x 100 million. x = 6775 million. Now, population growth of India from 1951 to 2011 = (1210 - 361) x 100/361 =235.18%
Now, the population growth of India is 200% more than that of the population growth of the world.
If the population of India grew by 3y%, then the population of the world grew by y%.
The world population, during the given period, grew by 235.18/3 = 78.40%
Now, let the world population in 1951 be z. 1.7840z = 6775 million, z = 3797.6 million people.
Thus the population of India as percentage of population of the world in 1951 = 361 x 100/3797 = 9.5% Hence, option 2.
