Solution: The given numbers when arranged in ascending order would be as follows:
2, 6, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18.
18 cannot be the largest number. So, let x and y be the two remaining numbers such that x < y.
Case I: 18 < x, (2, 6, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, x, y are the numbers in ascending order.) Case II: x < 18, (2, 6, 11, 13, 15, x, 17, 18, y are the numbers in ascending order.) Statement I: 
Considering case I, we do not get unique value for y, while y = 30 if case I is considered.
Thus, the question cannot be answered uniquely.
Similarly, with the help of statement II, the question cannot be answered.
Combining both the statements: Consider case I.
We get two inconsistent equations with two statements. So, the case is invalid.
Considering case II; we get y = 20.
So, both the statements are required to answer the question. Hence, option 3.
