Verified Answer
The question below consists of a question and 2 statements numbered I...
The cashier returned him 3 currencies.
From statement I:
Pinku gave 2 currencies of 200 each to the cashier. So, the total amount that Pinku gave was 400.
Now the cost of the ticket cannot be 0 or negative, so the denominations that the cashier returned cannot be 500 or more.
Since we are given that the cashier did not return denomination of 10, hence he returned 1 currency of each of 50, 100 and 200 denomination.
So, the cost of ticket = 400 - (50+100+200) = 50.
Hence statement I alone is sufficient.
Considering statement II:
Pinku gave a total amount of 400. Now the cost of the ticket cannot be 0 or negative, so the denominations that the cashier returned cannot be 500 or more.
The cashier returned him 3 currencies out of which one was of 50 denomination.
Now the cost of ticket = 400 - (50 +x + y), where X and Y are the unknown denominations. They can be any of 10, 50, 100 or 200.
So, the cost of the ticket cannot be determined. Hence statement II alone is not sufficient.
