Cost price and selling price of an article are in ratio 13 : 9. If the...
GIVEN:
CP : SP = 13 : 9
Loss = Rs. 320
CALCULATION:
Let assume C.P = 13x and S.P. = 9x
The sum of C.P and S.P. = 13x + 9x = 22x      ----(i)
Also given loss incurred on article = 320 Rs. = 13x - 9x
⇒ x = 80
From eq. (i)
The sum (in Rs) of cost and selling prices = 1760 Rs.
∴ Option D is correct answer

Cost price and selling price of an article are in ratio 13 : 9. If the...
Given:
Cost price to selling price ratio = 13 : 9
Loss incurred = Rs. 320

To find:
Sum of cost price and selling price

Solution:
Let's assume the cost price of the article as 13x and the selling price as 9x.

Calculation of Loss:
The loss is given as Rs. 320.

Loss = Cost price - Selling price

320 = 13x - 9x

320 = 4x

x = 80

Calculation of Cost price:
Cost price = 13x

Cost price = 13 * 80 = Rs. 1040

Calculation of Selling price:
Selling price = 9x

Selling price = 9 * 80 = Rs. 720

Calculation of Sum of Cost price and Selling price:
Sum = Cost price + Selling price

Sum = 1040 + 720

Sum = Rs. 1760

Therefore, the sum of the cost price and selling price of the article is Rs. 1760.
