There is a square plot ABCD of side 20 m. Four cats Ampi, Bampi, Champi and Dampi are standing on the vertices A, B, C and D respectively. These cats start running simultaneously around the periphery of the square in an anti-clockwise direction. If speeds of Ampi, Bampi, Champi and Dampi are 8 m/s, 6 m/s, 4 m/s and 2 m/s respectively, then what is the difference (in meters) between the distance covered by Ampi when she meets Champi for the second time and the distance covered by Bampi when she meets Dampi for the first time?
Correct answer is '180'. Can you explain this answer?

There is a square plot ABCD of side 20 m. Four cats Ampi, Bampi, Champ...
Solution: At the beginning, distance between Ampi and Champi is 40 m.
The perimeter of the square plot is 20 x 4 = 80 m. When Ampi meets Champi for the second time, by using the concept of relative speed, the distance covered by Ampi (considering Champi to be stationary) = (40 + 80) = 120 m. This distance of 120 m is covered by Ampi with a relative speed (with respect to Champi) of (8 - 4) = 4 m/s
The time required by Ampi to cover this distance of 120 m = 120/4 = 30 seconds And the actual distance covered by Ampi in this time of 30 seconds = 30 x 8 = 240 m Similarly, at the beginning, distance between Bampi and Dampi is 40 m.
When Bampi meets Dampi for the first time, by using the concept of relative speed, the distance covered by Bampi (considering Dampi to be stationary) = 40 m This distance of 40 m is covered by Bampi with a relative speed (with respect to Dampi) of (6 - 2) = 4 m/s
    The time required by Bampi to cover this distance of 40 metres = 40/4 = 10 seconds And the actual distance covered by Bampi in this time o f 10 sec = 1 0 * 6 = 60 m. The difference between the distances covered by Ampi and Bampi = 240 - 60 = 180 m

    Problem:
There is a square plot ABCD of side 20 m. Four cats Ampi, Bampi, Champi, and Dampi are standing on the vertices A, B, C, and D respectively. These cats start running simultaneously around the periphery of the square in an anti-clockwise direction. If speeds of Ampi, Bampi, Champi, and Dampi are 8 m/s, 6 m/s, 4 m/s, and 2 m/s respectively, then what is the difference (in meters) between the distance covered by Ampi when she meets Champi for the second time and the distance covered by Bampi when she meets Dampi for the first time?

    Solution:
To solve this problem, we need to calculate the distances covered by Ampi and Bampi when they meet Champi and Dampi respectively. Let's break down the solution into steps:

Step 1: Calculate the time taken for Ampi to meet Champi for the second time:
The time taken for Ampi to complete one full round around the square is equal to the perimeter of the square divided by Ampi's speed.
    Perimeter of the square = 4 * side length = 4 * 20 = 80 m
    Time taken by Ampi for one round = 80 / 8 = 10 seconds
Since Ampi meets Champi for the second time, she completes two rounds of the square.
Time taken by Ampi to meet Champi for the second time = 2 * 10 = 20 seconds

Step 2: Calculate the distance covered by Ampi when she meets Champi for the second time:
Distance covered by Ampi = Ampi's speed * time taken
Distance covered by Ampi when she meets Champi for the second time = 8 * 20 = 160 m

Step 3: Calculate the time taken for Bampi to meet Dampi for the first time:
The time taken for Bampi to complete one full round around the square is equal to the perimeter of the square divided by Bampi's speed.
    Time taken by Bampi for one round = 80 / 6 = 13.33 seconds
Since Bampi meets Dampi for the first time, she completes one round of the square.
Time taken by Bampi to meet Dampi for the first time = 13.33 seconds

Step 4: Calculate the distance covered by Bampi when she meets Dampi for the first time:
Distance covered by Bampi = Bampi's speed * time taken
    Distance covered by Bampi when she meets Dampi for the first time = 6 * 13.33 = 79.98 m (approximately 80 m)

Step 5: Calculate the difference between the distances covered by Ampi and Bampi:
Difference = Distance covered by Ampi - Distance covered by Bampi
    Difference = 160 - 80 = 80 m

Therefore, the difference between the distance covered by Ampi when she meets Champi for the second time and the distance covered by Bampi when she meets Dampi for the first time is 80 meters.
