Given:
- Point O is on line AB
- Perpendiculars OC and OD are drawn on line AB in opposite directions

To prove: OC and OD are straight lines

Proof:
- Since OC is perpendicular to AB, it forms a right angle at point O
- Similarly, since OD is perpendicular to AB, it also forms a right angle at point O
- By definition, a straight line is a line that extends indefinitely in both directions
- Since OC and OD are perpendicular to AB and extend indefinitely in opposite directions from point O, they are straight lines

Conclusion:
- Therefore, OC and OD are straight lines.
