Substances with similar ,with little difference in their atomic mass and almost same polarity form nearly ideal solutions ..i.e mixture of two successive members of a homologous series form ideal solutions which is the reason option a) ,c) d) being ideal solution since they have similar structures just longer carbon chain while in option b) chloroform and acetone have different chemical formulas and much difference in their respective atomic masses

Pair of Non-Ideal Solutions

B) Chloroform and Acetone

Explanation:

The non-ideal solution is formed when the interaction between the molecules of the solute and solvent is different. In such cases, the properties of the solution are different from those of the pure solute and solvent. The following pair will not form an ideal solution:

Chloroform and Acetone

Chloroform is a non-polar molecule, whereas acetone is a polar molecule. The difference in polarity leads to a weak interaction between the two molecules. The weak interaction causes the deviation from Raoult's law, which states that the vapor pressure of the solution is equal to the sum of the vapor pressures of the solute and solvent. In non-ideal solutions, the vapor pressure is different from the expected value.

Hence, the pair of chloroform and acetone will not form an ideal solution.
