Bending Moment Only:

Bending moment is the moment that causes a structural member to bend. It is caused by the transverse load acting on the member. The bending moment is considered for the design of axles because it is the most dominant loading that acts on the axles.

Twisting Moment and Axial Thrust:

In the case of axles, the twisting moment is caused by the engine torque transmitted to the wheels. Axial thrust is the force that acts along the axis of the member. Combined Bending Moment and Torsion:

Torsion is the twisting of a structural member caused by a twisting moment. The combined bending moment and torsion are considered for the design of shafts, not for the design of axles.
