Blood transfusion is a medical procedure where blood is transferred from one person to another person. However, the transfusion of blood must match the blood group of the recipient to avoid severe complications. Blood groups are determined by the presence or absence of antigens on the surface of red blood cells. There are four blood groups - A, B, AB, and O.

Answer: c) Group A and O

Explanation:

• Group A blood has A antigens on the surface of red blood cells and antibodies against B antigens in the plasma.
• Group B blood has B antigens on the surface of red blood cells and antibodies against A antigens in the plasma.
• Group AB blood has both A and B antigens on the surface of red blood cells and no antibodies in the plasma.
• Group O blood has no antigens on the surface of red blood cells and antibodies against both A and B antigens in the plasma.

Since the antibodies in plasma can attack the foreign antigens on the surface of red blood cells, a person with group A blood can receive blood from someone with group A or O blood. Group O blood is considered as a universal donor as it has no antigens on the surface of red blood cells and can be given to anyone regardless of their blood group. However, people with group O blood can only receive blood from other people with group O blood.

Therefore, the correct answer is c) Group A and O.

A person with blood group A can donate blood to only the person having blood group A because in group A antigen A is present .On the other hand person with blood group O is universal donar i.e.,it can donate blood to all. Thus, a person whose blood group is A can accept blood from both group A and O
