Which one of the following is not a change brought about by the Indian...
Explanation:
The Indian Independence Act of 1947 was an act passed by the British Parliament that ended British rule in India and created two independent countries, India and Pakistan. The act brought about several changes, but one of them was not the cessation of India as a dependency. Here are the changes brought about by the Indian Independence Act of 1947:

Amendment of the Government of India Act, 1935:
The Indian Independence Act of 1947 amended the Government of India Act, 1935, to provide an interim Constitution for India until a new Constitution could be framed. The interim Constitution provided for a Governor-General as the head of state, a Prime Minister as the head of government, and a bicameral legislature.

End of British rule:
The act ended British rule in India and created two independent countries, India and Pakistan. The act provided for the partition of India into two parts, one with a Hindu majority (India) and the other with a Muslim majority (Pakistan).

The Crown as the source of authority:
The Indian Independence Act of 1947 provided that until a new Constitution was framed, the Crown would remain the source of authority in India. The Governor-General, as the representative of the Crown, would be the constitutional head of the Indian Dominion.

Conclusion:
India did not cease to be a dependency after the Indian Independence Act of 1947, but instead, it became a Dominion with a Governor-General as the head of state.
