5G or fifth generation is the latest upgrade in the long-term evolution (LTE) mobile broadband networks. It is the next generation of wireless network technology that will offer faster and more reliable connections on smartphones and other devices.

Frequency bands of 5G

5G mainly works in 3 bands, namely low, mid, and high-frequency spectrum. These frequency bands have different characteristics and uses.

1. Low-frequency spectrum

Low-frequency spectrum is below 1 GHz. It has a longer wavelength and can travel longer distances, but it has a lower data rate. This spectrum is mainly used for wide-area coverage, such as rural areas.

2. Mid-frequency spectrum

Mid-frequency spectrum is between 1 GHz and 6 GHz. It has a medium wavelength and can travel moderate distances, but it has a higher data rate than low-frequency spectrum. This spectrum is mainly used for urban areas and smaller coverage areas.

3. High-frequency spectrum

High-frequency spectrum is above 6 GHz. It has a shorter wavelength and can transmit large amounts of data at very high speeds, but it can only travel short distances. This spectrum is mainly used for high-speed data transfer in crowded areas such as stadiums, airports, and shopping centers.
