Most Upvoted Answer
A consignee sold goods costing Rs. 50,000 at a profit of Rs. 10,000. O...
Given data:
Cost price = Rs. 50,000
Profit = Rs. 10,000
Credit sales = 30%
Ordinary commission = 5%
Del-credere commission on credit sale = 2%
Over-riding commission = 3%

Calculation:

1. Total Sales:

Total sales = Cost price + Profit
Total sales = Rs. 50,000 + Rs. 10,000
Total sales = Rs. 60,000

2. Credit Sales:

Credit sales = 30% of total sales
Credit sales = 30/100 x Rs. 60,000
Credit sales = Rs. 18,000

3. Cash Sales:

Cash sales = Total sales - Credit sales
Cash sales = Rs. 60,000 - Rs. 18,000
Cash sales = Rs. 42,000

4. Ordinary Commission:

Ordinary commission = 5% of total sales
Ordinary commission = 5/100 x Rs. 60,000
Ordinary commission = Rs. 3,000

5. Del-Credere Commission:

Del-Credere commission = 2% of credit sales
Del-Credere commission = 2/100 x Rs. 18,000
Del-Credere commission = Rs. 360

6. Excess Amount:

Excess amount = Total sales - Cost price
Excess amount = Rs. 60,000 - Rs. 50,000
Excess amount = Rs. 10,000

7. Over-riding Commission:

Over-riding commission = 3% of excess amount
Over-riding commission = 3/100 x Rs. 10,000
Over-riding commission = Rs. 300

8. Total Commission:

Total commission = Ordinary commission + Del-Credere commission + Over-riding commission
Total commission = Rs. 3,000 + Rs. 360 + Rs. 300
Total commission = Rs. 3,660

Therefore, the correct answer is option B, Rs. 3,660.
