DIRECTIONS for the question: Solve the following question and mark the...
Given:
- Cost of one variety of tea = Rs. 40/kg
- Cost of another variety of tea = Rs. 50/kg
- Ratio of the two varieties = 3 : 2
- Selling price of the mixed variety of tea = Rs. 48/kg

To find:
- Gain or loss percent

Formula:
- Gain or loss percent = (Profit or loss / Cost Price) * 100

Solution:

Let's assume that the shopkeeper mixes 3 kg of the first variety and 2 kg of the second variety to get a total of 5 kg of mixed tea.

Cost price of 3 kg of the first variety:
- Cost price = Rs. 40/kg
- Total cost price = Rs. 40/kg * 3 kg = Rs. 120

Cost price of 2 kg of the second variety:
- Cost price = Rs. 50/kg
- Total cost price = Rs. 50/kg * 2 kg = Rs. 100

Total cost price of the mixed variety of tea:
- Total cost price = Rs. 120 + Rs. 100 = Rs. 220

Selling price of the mixed variety of tea:
- Selling price = Rs. 48/kg
- Total selling price = Rs. 48/kg * 5 kg = Rs. 240

Profit or loss:
- Profit = Total selling price - Total cost price = Rs. 240 - Rs. 220 = Rs. 20

Gain or loss percent:
- Gain or loss percent = (Profit or loss / Cost Price) * 100
- Gain or loss percent = (20 / 220) * 100
- Gain or loss percent = 9.09%

Since the gain or loss percent is positive, it means the shopkeeper has made a gain of 9.09% when selling the mixed variety of tea at Rs. 48/kg.

Therefore, the correct option is C) 10% gain.
