Why would our body crumble if electromagnetic force were weaker than the gravitational force?

The electromagnetic force and the gravitational force are two of the four fundamental forces of nature. The electromagnetic force is responsible for the interaction between charged particles, while the gravitational force is responsible for the interaction between masses. If the electromagnetic force were weaker than the gravitational force, our bodies would crumble due to several reasons which are discussed below:

1. Chemical bonds

The electromagnetic force is responsible for the chemical bonds that hold our body together. The bonds between atoms in our body are primarily covalent and ionic bonds, which are formed due to the interaction between electrons and nuclei. If the electromagnetic force were weaker, these bonds would be weaker as well, and our body would not be able to maintain its structural integrity.

2. Nerve impulses

The transmission of nerve impulses in our body is also dependent on the electromagnetic force. Nerve impulses are electrical signals that travel through our body, and they are generated by the movement of charged ions across cell membranes. If the electromagnetic force were weaker, the transmission of nerve impulses would be slower, and our body would not be able to respond to stimuli quickly.

3. Muscle contraction

Muscle contraction is also dependent on the interaction between charged particles. When a muscle contracts, the actin and myosin filaments slide past each other, and this movement is powered by the interaction between charged particles. If the electromagnetic force were weaker, the interaction between these charged particles would be weaker as well, and our muscles would not be able to contract with the same force.

4. Electromagnetic radiation

The electromagnetic force is also responsible for the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and matter. If the electromagnetic force were weaker, the interaction between radiation and matter would be weaker as well, and our body would not be able to absorb or reflect radiation efficiently. This would lead to several health problems, including skin cancer, cataracts, and other radiation-related illnesses.

In conclusion, if the electromagnetic force were weaker than the gravitational force, our bodies would crumble due to the weakening of chemical bonds, nerve impulses, muscle contraction, and the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and matter.
