The correct answer is option 3, i.e. It was established after the recommendation of the Rajamannar Committee is not a correct statement.
The National Development Council was established in 1952 by an executive resolution of the Government of India.
  • NDC was constituted after the recommendation of the First Five Year Plan. Hence statement 3 is not correct.
  • It is neither a constitutional body nor a statutory body like the erstwhile Planning Commission. Hence statement 1 is correct.
NDC is having the following members:
  • Prime minister (Chairman) Hence statement 2 is correct.
  • Union Cabinet Ministers
  • The Chief Ministers of all states
  • The Chief Ministers or administrator of all union territories.
  • Members of the Planning Commission (now NITI Aayog).
It was established to secure cooperation between states, strengthen and support the national plans, promote economic policies and balanced development of the country.
It was reported that the Modi Government will abolish the NDC but such a resolution has not been passed.
It is listed in the advisory body of NITI Aayog so its recommendations are not binding on the Government. Hence statement 4 is correct.
