Reason for Walkout and Steps Taken by Third Estate in Assembly of Estate General
Reason for Walkout
The members of the Third Estate in the Assembly of Estate General walked out on 5th May 1789 due to the following reasons:
1. Dispute over Voting: The members of the Third Estate demanded that the voting be done by headcount, which would give them an advantage as they represented the majority of the population. However, the other two estates insisted on voting by estate, which would give them an advantage.
2. Unfair Representation: The Third Estate argued that they represented the majority of the population and should, therefore, have more representation in the Assembly. However, the other two estates refused to agree to this.
3. Lack of Progress: The Assembly had been meeting for several weeks, but no progress had been made on the issues that the Third Estate had raised.
Steps Taken by Third Estate
After the walkout, the members of the Third Estate took two steps to assert their rights:
1. Formation of the National Assembly: The members of the Third Estate decided to form their own Assembly, which they called the National Assembly. They declared that they represented the people of France and would work towards creating a new Constitution for the country.
2. Tennis Court Oath: On 20th June 1789, the members of the National Assembly found that the doors to their meeting place had been locked. They then moved to a nearby tennis court and took an oath, which became known as the Tennis Court Oath. They swore that they would not disband until they had created a new Constitution for France.
These steps taken by the members of the Third Estate were crucial in the French Revolution. They led to the overthrow of the absolute monarchy and the establishment of a democratic government in France.

The reason for their walkout is members were forced to stand by the king and didn't affirm their voting pattern. Two steps took by the members of the third estate: Members demanded the constitution to limit the power of the king. To fight for their rights, they decided to break the Bastille prison.
