Now, total surface area = Perimeter of square base × Height
+ 2 × Area of square base.
⇒ 608 = 4a × 15 + 2 × a2 ⇒ a2 + 30a –304 = 0 ⇒ a = 8
∴Volume of prism = Area of base × Height
= a2 × 15 = 8 × 8 × 15 = 960 cm3

Given, height of a square base right prism = 15 cm
Total surface area of the prism = 608 cm²
Let the side of the square base be ‘a’ cm
Then, the total surface area of the prism = 2a² + 4ah cm²
where h is the height of the prism
Given, h = 15 cm, Total surface area = 608 cm²
⇒ 2a² + 4ah = 608
⇒ 2a² + 4a(15) = 608
⇒ 2a² + 60a - 608 = 0
⇒ a² + 30a - 304 = 0
⇒ (a + 38)(a - 8) = 0
⇒ a = 8 cm (since the side of the square base cannot be negative)
Volume of the prism = Base area × Height
= a² × h
= 8² × 15 cm³
= 960 cm³
Therefore, the volume of the prism is 960 cm³.
Hence, the correct option is (c) 960 cm³.
