Verified Answer
What is the punching force required to drill a hole of 20 mm diameter...
For drilling a hole in the plate, the shearing stress reaches the ultimate stress value.
Shear area = π × d × t = π × 8 × 20 = 502.65 mm2
Shear stress (τ) = Shear Force/Shear Area
∴360=P502.65
∴ P = 108956 N = 108.96 kN
