Visionary Plans of Muhammad Tughlaq

Muhammad Tughlaq was a ruler of the Delhi Sultanate who ruled from 1325-1351. He was known for his visionary plans and ideas that aimed at expanding the empire, improving the economy and bringing about administrative reforms. Some of his visionary plans were:

1. Shifting the Capital: Muhammad Tughlaq had a vision of establishing a new capital city at Daulatabad in the Deccan region. He believed that this would help in strengthening the southern borders and provide a strategic advantage. However, this decision turned out to be a disaster as it led to the loss of revenue and caused widespread discontent among the people.

2. Introduction of Token Currency: Another visionary plan of Muhammad Tughlaq was the introduction of token currency made of copper and brass. This was aimed at solving the problem of shortage of silver coins. However, this plan failed miserably as people refused to accept the token currency, leading to a loss of revenue for the government.

3. Establishment of Educational Institutions: Muhammad Tughlaq was a patron of education and established many educational institutions like madrasas, colleges and libraries. He also invited scholars from different parts of the world to come and teach in these institutions.

2. Introduction of Token Currency: The introduction of token currency led to a loss of revenue for the government as people refused to accept it. This, in turn, led to a shortage of funds and weakened the economy.

3. Establishment of Educational Institutions: The establishment of educational institutions had a positive impact on the society as it led to the spread of education and knowledge. This, in turn, led to the growth of intellectual and cultural activities in the empire.

Conclusion

Muhammad Tughlaq's visionary plans were aimed at improving the empire and bringing about administrative reforms.
