A habitat refers to the natural environment or the place where a particular plant or animal species lives. It includes both biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) components and provides the necessary resources for the species to survive and reproduce. Habitats can vary greatly, ranging from forests and oceans to deserts and grasslands.

Terrestrial animals are those that live primarily on land. Unlike aquatic animals that reside in water, terrestrial animals have adapted to survive and thrive in different terrestrial habitats. Some examples of terrestrial animals include mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects. These animals have various adaptations that allow them to navigate and survive in their specific terrestrial habitats. For instance, mammals have lungs to breathe air, while birds have wings to fly and reptiles have scales to protect themselves from the environment.

Arboreal animals are those that primarily live in trees. They have adapted to life in the trees and possess specific characteristics that help them move and survive in an arboreal habitat. Examples of arboreal animals include monkeys, sloths, and certain species of birds. These animals have evolved to have strong limbs for climbing and grasping, as well as adaptations like prehensile tails or opposable thumbs to aid in their arboreal lifestyle. They find food, shelter, and safety in the trees, using the branches and foliage as their habitat.

Grasslands are vast areas characterized by the presence of grasses and few or no trees. They are found in different parts of the world and are home to a variety of animals. Two animals commonly found in grasslands include:

1. Bison: Bison, also known as American buffalo, are large, herbivorous mammals that inhabit the grasslands of North America. They have adapted to grazing on grasses and are well-suited to the open plains. Bison live in herds and have a strong social structure.

2. Pronghorn: Pronghorn is a unique and fast-running mammal found in the grasslands of North America. They are known for their exceptional speed, being the second-fastest land animal after the cheetah. Pronghorn have adapted to the open grasslands and have excellent eyesight to detect predators.

Both bison and pronghorn have evolved to thrive in grassland habitats, utilizing the grasses as a food source and the wide, open spaces as their living environment. They have adaptations that help them survive in these habitats, such as strong hooves for running or grazing and keen senses to detect potential threats.
