A homogeneous mixture of two or more substances called a true solution. it consists of solute and solvent. The particle size of true solution in less than 1 nanometer. A suspension is a heterogeneous mixture in which the solute particle does not dissolve but remain suspended throughout the bulk of the medium. A colloid is a mixture that is actually heterogeneous but appears to be homogeneous as the particles are uniformly spread throughout the solution.

Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Mixtures:

Homogeneous mixtures contain uniform composition and properties throughout the mixture. On the other hand, heterogeneous mixtures have non-uniform composition and properties throughout the mixture.

True Solution:

- A homogeneous mixture of two or more substances is called a true solution.
- It consists of solute and solvent.
- The particle size of true solution is less than 1 nanometer.

Suspension:

- A suspension is a heterogeneous mixture in which the solute particle does not dissolve but remains suspended throughout the bulk of the medium.
- The particle size of the solute in a suspension is greater than 1000 nanometers.

Colloid:

- A colloid is a mixture that is actually heterogeneous but appears to be homogeneous as the particles are uniformly spread throughout the solution.
- The particle size of the solute in a colloid is between 1 nanometer and 1000 nanometers.

Stability:

- True solutions are the most stable among the three types of mixtures.
- This is because the solute particles in a true solution are uniformly dispersed throughout the solvent and do not settle down.
- In contrast, the solute particles in a suspension are larger and tend to settle down over time, leading to instability.
- Similarly, the solute particles in a colloid are also larger than those in a true solution, but they are small enough to remain suspended for a longer time than a suspension. However, they may still settle down over a longer period, making them less stable than true solutions.

Conclusion:

True solutions are the most stable among the three types of mixtures because of the small particle size of the solute, which prevents settling down over time. Suspensions and colloids, on the other hand, can be unstable due to the larger particle size of the solute, which can lead to settling down over time.
