Eight persons, A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H live in a building, where the ground floor is numbered 1; floor above is numbered 2 and so on until the topmost is numbered 8. Their ages are also given which are 10, 12, 20, 22, 24, 26, 36 and 72 not necessarily in the same order. H's age is 3 times that of C but he is not the eldest in the group. Two persons are living between H and C. E is the youngest one and lives on 2nd floor. The sum of the ages of C and E is equal to F. H lives on an odd numbered floor above E. The difference of ages of B and G is 4 times to that of C's age and B lives just above G. A is 20 years old and lives just above H. B doesn't live on the 8th floor. The number of persons living between B and D is same as the number of persons living between B and F. B lives on an even numbered floor. D lives on one of the floors above F. The one who is the eldest person in the group lives just below the person whose age is just half of the eldest person.

Directions: Study the following information carefully and answer the ...
We know that:
  • E is the youngest one and lives on 2nd floor.
  • H's age is 3 times to that of C but he is not the eldest in the group. It means H is not 72 years old and only combination left is 12 and 36 years old so C is 12 years old and H is 36 years old.
  • The sum of the age of C and E is equal to F. As C is 12 years old then E must be 10 years old and F must be 22 years old.
  • The difference of age of B and G is 4 times to that of C's age and B lives just above G. As C is 12 years old then B's and G's age difference must be 48 years and B is elder than G so B's age must be 72 years old and G's age must be 24 years old. Now D's age must be 26 years old.
  • As we know that H lives on an odd numbered floor above E and two persons are living between H and C so we get three cases-
Case 1:
Case 2:
Case 3:
Take Case 1:
  • The one who is the eldest person in the group lives just below the person whose age is just half of the eldest person. It means B is just below H, because B is the eldest and H's age is 36 years. So, this case gets rejected.
Take Case 2:
  • The one who is the eldest person in the group lives just below the person whose age is just half of the eldest person. It means B is just below H, because B is eldest and H's age is 36 years.
  • A is 20 years old and lives just above H.
  • Two persons are living between H and C.
  • The number of persons living between B and D is same as B and F. D lives one of the floors above F. we can see that this is only possible when D is above B otherwise not possible so this case gets rejected.
Take Case 3:
  • The one who is the eldest person in the group lives just below the person whose age is just half of the eldest person. It means B is just below H, because B is eldest and H's age is 36 years.
  • A is 20 years old and lives just above H.
  • Two persons are living between H and C, C can be live at 2nd or 8th but 2nd already occupied so C lives on 8th.
  • The number of persons living between B and D is same as B and F. D lives one of the floors above F. we can see that this is only possible when D is above B otherwise not possible. So D lives on 7th then F lives on 1st. last G lives on 3rd floor.
Here is the Final table:
The youngest person is E who is 10 years old and G lives exactly above E. Hence nobody lives between them.
