In the following question, two statements numbered I and II are given. On solving them, we get quantities I and II respectively. Solve for both the quantities and choose the correct option.
Quantity I: Ratio of male to female students in a school is 96:137 and if male students increased by 20% and female students decreased by 20% then total number of students becomes 5620, then what is difference of original male to female students?
Quantity II: What is area (m2) of running track of width 5 meter inside a rectangular field having perimeter 225 meter and ratio of length to breadth is 4:5?

In the following question, two statements numbered I and II are given...
Quantity I
Let male students be 96Y and female students be 137Y
Then,
Increased male = 96Y x 120/100 = 115.2Y
Decreased female = 137Y x 80/100 = 109.6Y
Again,
(115.2Y + 109.6Y) = 5620
224.8Y = 5620
Y = 25
Original male students = (96 x 25) = 2400
Original female students = (137 x 25) = 3425
Required difference = (3425 - 2400) = 1025
Quantity II:
Perimeter of rectangular field = 2(L + B) = 225
(L + B) = 112.5 ....... (i)
Let Length = 4Y & Breadth = 5Y
By putting value of L and B in (i) we get
(4Y + 5Y) = 112.5
Y = 12.5
Length = (12.5 x 4) = 50 meters
Breadth = (12.5 x 5) = 62.5 meters
Area = (50 x 62.5) = 3125 m2.
Length of inner field = (50 - 10) = 40 meters
Breadth of inner field = (62.5 - 10) = 52.5 meters
Area of inner field = (40 x 52.5) = 2100
Area of walking path = (3125 - 2100) = 1025 m2.
Hence, Quantity I = Quantity II
