Veena, Wardhan, Xavier, Yasmin and Zeeshan are playing in a card picking competition. In each round, there are 5 cards which are numbered 0,1,2,3, and 5. The backside of the cards is identical so none of the friends knows which card they are picking.
The game consisted of 5 rounds in which each friend will come and randomly pick a card without replacing it. After 5 such rounds, the sum of the card number picked by the friend was calculated. If the total exceeds 10 or the friend has picked the card numbered 5 at least once, then those will be allowed to play in round 6. In round 6 the cards have to be returned back after picking thus allowing multiple friends to pick a card with the same number.
In case the total score after round 6 is a tie, then another round will be played and it will continue till there is no tie. (If a friend is disqualified after round 5 then he will not be allowed to participate in bonus rounds)
The cumulative score of each friend after rounds is given below. Missing entry implies that the value is not known:

The following things are known for the first 5 rounds:
a) Each friend picked up card number 0 at least once
b) Xavier and Yasmin picked a different numbered card across the rounds. The other 3 friends repeated a previously picked card at least once
c) Card numbered 1 is always picked by a different friend in each round.
d) Card picked by Veena in round 2 is the same as the card picked by Wardhan in round 5
Q. Who picked up card numbered 1 in round 4?
  • a)
    Zeeshan
  • b)
    Wardhan
  • c)
    Veena
  • d)

Veena, Wardhan, Xavier, Yasmin and Zeeshan are playing in a card picki...
Let us make a table with the known data first
  1. Xavier and Yasmin picked a different numbered card each time. Hence their total will be 0+1+2+3+5 = 11 irrespective of the order they pick the cards
  2. Wardhan cumulative score was 3 after round 2 and 8 after round 4. Thus Wardhan picked card numbered 5 in round 3
  3. Xavier picked card numbered 3 in round 1. Therefore he has to pick card numbered 2 in round 2
  4. Cumulative score of Yasmin did not change in round 4. It implies she picked up card number 0 in round 4
  5. Zeeshan picked card numbered 2 in round 3

Since we know that Xavier picked a different card in every round, and in round 3 card numbered 0 and 5 are already picked. Then it implies that Xavier picked card numbered 1 in round 3, leaving card numbered 3 for Yasmin
Coming to Yasmin, her cumulative till round 3 was 9 and she picked card numbered 3 in round 3. Therefore the sum of card numbers picked by Yasmin is first 2 round is 6 which is possible only when she picked card 1 and 5, not necessarily in the same order. Therefore she picked card numbered 2 in round 5
Similarly, the cumulative score of Veena is also 6 after round 3 but she picked card number 0. She must have picked card numbered 1 and 5 in the first 2 rounds. Also her cumulative score increases by 7 in the last 2 rounds. It is only possible if she picked card numbered 2 and 5. But card numbered 2 is picked by Yasmin in round 5. Hence, Veena picked card numbered 2 in round 4 and card numbered 5 in round 5.

From above we can say that Xavier picked card-numbered 5 in round 4 and hence card numbered 0 in round 5
For Zeeshan, we are given that he had a cumulative score of 4 till round 3 and he has picked card numbered 2 at round 3. So either pick card numbered 1 in both rounds( rejected as we already deduced that the card numbered 1 is picked by Veena/Yasmin in first 2 round). Only other possibility is picking card numbered 0 and 2. Since Xavier picked card numbered 2 in round 2, Zeeshan has to pick it up in round 1.

We can now conclude that Wardhan picked 0 in round 1and 3 in round 2
Wardhan can pick 1 or 3 in round 5, whereas Veena can pick 1 or 5 in round 2. Since it is given that both are same we conclude Wardhan picked 1 in round 5 and Veena picked 1 in round 2. Updating the table accordingly

Since card numbered 1 is picked by different friend each time, Zeeshan will pick card numbered 4 in round 4. He'll pick card numbered 3 in round 5 and Wardhan will pick card numbered 3 in round 4. Final table looks as follows:

Three participants - Akhil, Bimal and Chatur participate in a random draw competition for five days. Every day, each participant randomly picks up a ball numbered between 1 and 9. The number on the ball determines his score on that day. The total score of a participant is the sum of his scores attained in the five days. The total score of a day is the sum of participants’ scores on that day. The 2-day average on a day, except on Day 1, is the average of the total scores of that day and of the previous day. For example, if the total scores of Day 1 and Day 2 are 25 and 20, then the 2-day average on Day 2 is calculated as 22.5. Table 1 gives the 2-day averages for Days 2 through 5.Participants are ranked each day, with the person having the maximum score being awarded the minimum rank (1) on that day. If there is a tie, all participants with the tied score are awarded the best available rank. For example, if on a day Akhil, Bimal, and Chatur score 8, 7 and 7 respectively, then their ranks will be 1, 2 and 2 respectively on that day. These ranks are given in Table 2.The following information is also known. Chatur always scores in multiples of 3. His score on Day 2 is the unique highest score in the competition. His minimum score is observed only on Day 1, and it matches Akhil’s score on Day 4. The total score on Day 3 is the same as the total score on Day 4. Bimal’s scores are the same on Day 1 and Day 3.If the total score of Bimal is a multiple of 3, what is the score of Akhil on Day 2?

'Aashapurna housing society' has apartments in two wings: east wing and west wing. On occasion of Christmas there is a get-together event being organized by the working committee (WC) of the society. An event comprising a quiz competition, a dumb charades game and a spin the bottle game is to take place, but since all residents of society cannot participate, a pre-final event within the east and west wings takes place separately and selected participant out of these events would compete in final against each other. Secretary of east wing of society supervises the games within his wing and allows each resident to take part in only one game of their choice. All participants of quiz contest are asked 50 questions each and get 1 point for 1 correct answer and 0 point for a wrong answer. All participants of dumb charade are given 50 chances to guess names of 50 movies, and get 1 point for 1 correct guess provided they do not guess a wrong movie name, after which they are considered out of game. Each participant of spin the bottle play 50 rounds of game together and winner of each round gets 1 point and others get 0 point. So, if there are 'n' number of participants then we get '50n' rounds. The game is based on sheer chance. After all games are conducted, the points distribution for East wing residents for quiz competition turned out to be as given below. The similar score was observed for the other two games as well.Answer following questions based on the above information, considering that the following questions are for the final rounds that are to be conducted:A team comprising of 10 participants is to be selected for spin the bottle, what should be the criteria for selection of the team to make sure best participants get selected?
