Directions: Answer the following questions based on the information g...
Total number of units sold in the month of September = 6300
Number of units sold by company B in July = 1500
Number of units sold by company B in September = 1500 + 1500 (60%)
= 1500 + 900
= 2400
Ratio = Number of units sold by company B in August/Number of units sold by company B in September
Let the number of units sold by company B in August be x.
3:4 = x/2400
x = 1800
Number of units sold in May by company A = 1800 + 1800(7/9)
= 1800 + 1400
= 3200
Number of units sold in August by company A = 2400 + 2400 (1/8)
= 2700
Number of mobile phones sold by company B in May = (2/3)(2/3)(6300)
= 2800
Number of units sold by company B in May = 3200 - 3200(1/8)
= 3200 - 400
= 2800
Number of units sold by both companies A and B together in October = 6300 + 6300 (1/9)
= 6300 + 700
= 7000
Total number of units sold in August = 2700 + 1800
= 4500
Number of units sold by company A in September = 6300 - 2400
= 3900
Total units sold in the month of May = 3200 + 2800
= 6000
Number of units sold in June by company A = 6000 - 6000(1/6)
= 6000 - 1000
= 5000
Number of units sold in July by company A = 5000 - 5000 (20%)
= 5000 - 1000
= 4000
Total number of units sold by company A = 3200 + 5000 + 4000 + 2700 + 3900 + 2100
= 20900
Ratio = Number of units sold by company B in June/Number of units sold by company A in October
Let the number of units sold by company A in October be x.
5:3 = 3500/x
x = 2100
The data can be presented in the table as follows:
Average number of units sold by company A = 20900/6
= 3483.33
≈ 3483

Calculation of Average Number of Units Sold by Company A:

1. Units Sold in October: Company A sold 2100 units in October.
2. Units Sold in September: Total units sold by both companies in September is 6300. Let's assume Company A sold x units in September.
3. Units Sold in August: Company A sold 1/8th more units than Company B in September. So, units sold by Company A in August = x + x/8.
4. Units Sold in July: Company A sold 20% less units in July compared to June. So, units sold by Company A in July = 0.8*(x).
5. Units Sold in June: Company A sold 1/6th less units in June compared to May. So, units sold by Company A in June = 6/5*(x).
6. Units Sold in May: Company B sold 1/8th less units than Company A in May. Let's assume Company A sold y units in May. So, units sold by Company B in May = 7/8*y.
7. Units Sold in August by Company B: Ratio of units sold by Company B in August to September is 3:4. Let's assume Company B sold z units in September. So, units sold by Company B in August = 3/4*z.

Now, calculate the total units sold by Company A in the 6 months and find the average.
Total units = (x) + (x + x/8) + 0.8*(x) + 6/5*(x) + y + z
Average = Total units / 6

By solving the above equations, we can approximate the average number of units sold by Company A, which is 3483. Hence, option b) 3483 is the correct answer.
