I. P can do 2/3rd part of work in 16 days and with the help of Q he completes the same work in 40/3 days.
II. P can complete a work in 30 days and Q is 20% more efficient than P.
  • a)
If the data in Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
  • b)
If the data in Statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
  • c)
If the data either in Statement I alone or in Statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.
  • d)
If the data in both the Statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.

Verified Answer
Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements...
From I:
We have:
P can complete 2/3rd of work in 16 days
Then, P can complete same work in = (16 x 3/2) = 24 days
One day work of P = 1/24
P and Q can do same work in = 40/3 days
One day work by P and Q = 3/40
One day work by Q = (3/40 - 1/24)
One day work by Q = 1/30
Ratio of work done by P and Q = 1/24:1/30
Ratio of work done by P and Q = 5:4
Total wage = 74250
Wage of P = 74250 x 5/9 = 41250
Wage of Q = 74250 x 4/9 = 33000
Required difference = (41250 - 33000) = ₹8250
Hence, statement I alone is sufficient.
From II:
Ratio of time taken by P to Q = 120:100
Ratio of time taken by P to Q = 6:5
Let Q can do same work in Y days
Then,
6:5 = 30:Y
Y = 25
Ratio of work done by P to Q = 1/30:1/25
Ratio of work done by P to Q = 5:6
Wage of P = 74250 x 5/11 = 33750
Wage of Q = 74250 x 6/11 = 40500
Required difference = (40500 - 33750) = ₹6750
Hence, statement II alone is sufficient.
