Second world War was broke out on 1939,this period in Indian National Congress leaders have a doubt that for whom they support Ally's or axis and congress said we will support British for that they have to give full freedom to India revolution continued 1937 to 1939,due to this British rulers were upset with INC and they started in India divide and rule policy and they supported Muslim league which was formed in 1906 this captured the interest of muslims.
on 23rd March 1940 Muslim league passed a resolution for a separate country for Muslims which is Pakistan so many strikes ate held, on 16th August 1946 Muslim league announced direct action day so many members lost their life in this, by doing all the Congress have no option but to accept partition. second World War ended in 1945 decolonization of country were happening and India got freedom on 15 August 1947 and Pakistan on 14th August 1947.

When Britain took India into the war without consultation in 1939, Congress opposed it; large nationalist protests ensued, culminating in the 1942 Quit India movement, a mass movement against British rule. For their part in it, Gandhi and Nehru and thousands of Congress workers were imprisoned until 1945.
