Two boys, who study in a school, start walking to their homes from the...
At the beginning, both the boys walk away from each other. After one hour, first boy reaches home and his distance from school is 5 km. This distance does not change after 2 pm.
The second boy walks at the speed of 6 km per hour for the entire 1 hour 10 min.
Distance covered by second boy in 1 hour 10 min = 7 km.
So, Total distance between the boys at 2:10 pm = 7 + 5 = 12 km.

Two boys, who study in a school, start walking to their homes from the...
Distance between two boys at 2:10 pm
- Calculating the distance covered by each boy:
- The first boy covers 5 km in 1 hour (1 pm to 2 pm) at a speed of 5 km/hr.
- Distance covered by the first boy = 5 km
- The second boy covers 8 km in 1 hour (1 pm to 2 pm) at a speed of 6 km/hr.
- Distance covered by the second boy = 8 km
- Finding the total distance between the two boys:
- By 2:10 pm, the first boy would have covered an additional 10 minutes of walking time.
- Distance covered by the first boy by 2:10 pm = (5/60) km = 5/12 km
- By 2:10 pm, the second boy would have covered an additional 10 minutes of walking time.
- Distance covered by the second boy by 2:10 pm = (8/60) km = 2/3 km
- Total distance between the two boys = Distance covered by the first boy + Distance covered by the second boy
- Total distance = 5 + (5/12) + 8 + (2/3) km
- Total distance = 5 + 0.4167 + 8 + 0.6667 km
- Total distance = 13.0834 km
Therefore, the distance between the two boys at 2:10 pm is approximately 12 km. Hence, the correct answer is option A.
