Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for technical support towards the implementation of two flagship programmes, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC).
Details of the MoU:
• The MoU was signed by Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare and Shoko Noda, Resident Representative, UNDP India.
• The UNDP will provide technical assistance to the Ministry in areas of planning and implementation of PMFBY and KCC schemes.
• UNDP will help the Ministry in designing and implementing a comprehensive capacity development plan for all stakeholders involved in the implementation of PMFBY and KCC schemes.
• The UNDP will also support the Ministry in the development of a monitoring and evaluation framework for the schemes.
• The MoU will remain in force for a period of three years.
Significance of the MoU:
The MoU will strengthen and streamline the implementation of PMFBY and KCC schemes. The technical assistance provided by UNDP will help the Ministry in the effective implementation of the schemes, which will benefit farmers across the country. The MoU will also help in achieving the goal of doubling farmers' income by 2022, as envisaged by the Government of India.

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW), Government of India and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
As per the MoU, UNDP will provide technical support towards the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scheme & Kisan Credit Card – Modified Interest Subvention Scheme. UNDP has been providing technical assistance for the last 4 years.
