Settlement is a place where people build there homes and interact with people and carry out various occupational need.Temporary settlement:1. These are settlements which are occupied for a short period of time.2. People practice hunting, gathering, shifting, cultivation .3. Due to climatic conditions or circumstances, people need to change their homes.4.The villages are rural settlement where people are engaged in agriculture, fishing, crafts works etc. Population here is less.Permanent settlement:1. These are places where people build permanent houses.2. Permanent settlement are of two types : urban and rural settlements.3. Towns are small and cities are large urban settlement. 4. People in urban areas practice manufacturing, trading and other services. Here population is more.

Settlement is basically a place where people build their homes. There are two types of settlement:
• TEMPORARY SETTLEMENT - it is for a short period. For example, nomadic pastoralists do (Banjaras).
• PERMANENT SETTLEMENT - as the name suggests it is for life time or we can say permanent. Hence, it is known as permanent settlement.
