**Answer:**

The correct answer is option 'C', the farmer's sons were proud.

The passage states that the farmer had four sons who were lazy and fought among themselves. This indicates that the sons did not like to work hard and had a negative attitude. Laziness and fighting are not qualities of happy or active individuals.

After their father's death, the sons were excited about finding the hidden treasure. They rushed to the field and searched every nook and corner, but they were unable to find the treasure. This shows that they were eager to find the treasure and were hopeful that it would bring them wealth and happiness. However, their failure to find the treasure indicates that they were not successful in their search.

At this point, a wise man passed by and recognized the motive behind their father's words. He advised them to sow seeds, and the sons followed his advice. As a result, they had a rich harvest waiting to be reaped. This shows that the sons were able to turn their situation around by working hard and putting in effort. They were successful in their farming and reaped the rewards of their hard work.

The passage concludes by stating that the sons were happy and realized the importance of hard work. This indicates a change in their attitude and behavior. They learned a valuable lesson from their father's words and respected him all the more because of it. The fact that they learned the importance of hard work and were happy with their success suggests that they were proud of their achievements.

In summary, the farmer's sons were initially lazy and fought among themselves. However, through their experience of searching for the hidden treasure and then working hard to sow seeds, they learned the value of hard work and became happy and proud of their achievements.
