In the questions given below consists of a statement and / or a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement(s) is / are sufficient to answer the given question. Read the both statements and answer the question.
A and B are at opposite ends of a 100 m road and start moving towards each other. They meet at what point?
I. Speed of A = Twice the Speed of B
II. They meet after 10 sec
If the data even in both Statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
  • a)
If the data in Statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
  • b)
If the data in Statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
  • c)
If the data either in Statement I or in Statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?
Most Upvoted Answer
In the questions given below consists of a statement and / or a quest...
Explanation:

Given Data:
- A and B are at opposite ends of a 100 m road and start moving towards each other.
- They meet at what point?

Statement I: Speed of A = Twice the Speed of B
- Let the speed of A be '2x' and the speed of B be 'x'
- Since they are moving towards each other, their relative speed = 2x + x = 3x
- Time taken to meet = Distance / Relative speed = 100 / 3x

Statement II: They meet after 10 sec
- Time taken to meet = 10 sec

Analysis:
- From Statement I alone, we can find the time taken to meet in terms of 'x', but we do not know the specific values of 'x' and the exact point of meeting.
- From Statement II alone, we know the time taken to meet, but we do not have information about the speeds of A and B.

Conclusion:
- The data provided in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
- Therefore, the correct answer is option 'A', as the data in Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

In the questions given below consists of a statement and / or a quest...
Let the distance travelled by A be x. Distance travelled by B will be 100-x.
When they meet, it implies that the time taken to reach there is same. So TA = TB.
The first option gives us the ratio of speeds which for T being constant is the ratio of distance travelled. Hence the solution can be found. Whereas second option is not giving any clarity on the speed and does not help to solve the question.
Hence, the correct option is (a).
