Let the age of son = X years
∴Age of mother would be =2X
As per question 20 years ago;
10 (X -20) = 2X - 20
10X - 200 = 2X - 20
10X - 2X= - 20 + 200
8X = 180
X = 180/8 = 22.5 years
∴ Age of mother = 22.5 * 2 = 45 years

To solve this problem, let's assign variables to the ages of the mother and the son. Let M represent the age of the mother and S represent the age of the son.

Given information:
1. The mother is twice as old as her son: M = 2S
2. 20 years ago, the age of the mother was 10 times the age of the son: M - 20 = 10(S - 20)

Let's solve these equations to find the present age of the mother.

Solving the equations:
1. Substituting M = 2S into the second equation:
2S - 20 = 10(S - 20)
2S - 20 = 10S - 200
10S - 2S = 200 - 20
8S = 180
S = 180/8
S = 22.5

2. Substituting S = 22.5 into the first equation:
M = 2(22.5)
M = 45

Therefore, the present age of the mother is 45 years (option D).
