According to grammar, The verbs advise, allow forbid and permit are followed by a gerund when they have no object but when they have the object we have to use an infinitive.
The concept behind it is- the verbs given are transitive verbs hence after these verbs we have to write an object the object can only be a noun/pronoun/gerund. Whenever we don't have an object after these verbs then, write a gerund to make an object, and whenever an object is written write an infinitive, and the verb, which is written with the preposition 'to' i.e. 'to + v1', is written for the object of the main verb.
Correct sentence: The doctor advised him to take a course of antibiotics.
Hence, the correct option is (A).
