Disaster management comprises four phases, namely:

• Identifying hazards and assessing risks


• Building infrastructure that can withstand disasters


• Implementing early warning systems


• Developing and enforcing building codes and zoning regulations

This phase involves preparing for disasters before they occur. Some of the activities involved in this phase include:

• Developing emergency plans and procedures


• Conducting emergency drills and exercises


• Stockpiling supplies and resources for emergency response


• Ensuring that emergency responders are trained and equipped to handle disasters

This phase involves responding to disasters as they occur. Some of the activities involved in this phase include:

• Activating emergency plans and procedures


• Providing emergency medical care and rescue services


• Evacuating affected areas


• Providing food, water, and shelter to affected populations

This phase involves returning to normalcy after a disaster. Some of the activities involved in this phase include:
