Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below.
Eight persons - A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H live in two different types of flats - Flat X and Flat Y of a four-storey building, but not necessarily in the same order. Flat Y is to the west of Flat X. The lower-most floor is numbered as 1 and the floor immediately above is numbered as 2 and so on.
G lives on an odd numbered floor. D lives to the south of E and northeast of G. Only one floor is above F. Neither F nor G lives in the same type of flat as D. A lives to the west of C and immediately below F’s floor. Both F and B live on adjacent floors.
Q. Which of the following statement(s) is/are true with respect to the final arrangement?
I. C lives in the same type of flat as H.

Final arrangement
We have,
  • G lives on an odd numbered floor.
  • D lives to the south of E and to the northeast of G.
  • Only one floor is above F.
  • Neither F nor G lives in the same type of flat as D.
From the above conditions, there are three possibilities
Again we have,
  • A lives to the west of C and immediately below F’s floor.
  • Both F and B live on adjacent floors.
From the above conditions, case 1 and case 2 get eliminated. Hence, case 3 shows the final arrangement.
