Directions: Study the following graph to answer the given question.
If the expenditures of companies A and B in 2001 were equal and the total income of the two companies was Rs. 116 lakh, what was the total expenditure of the companies in that year?

Directions: Study the following graph to answer the given question.If...
Let the expenditure of both the companies in 2001 be Rs. x.
Now, profit % of company A in 2001 = 40%
∴ 40% of x = Income - x
⇒ Income = Rs. 7x/5
Profit % of company B in 2001 = 50%
∴ 50% of x = Income - x
⇒ Income = Rs. 3x/2
Also, income of both companies in 2001 = Rs. 116
⇒ x = 40
∴ Expenditure of both the companies together
= x + x = 40 + 40 = 80 lakh
