Adverbs 'no sooner' and 'hardly/barely/scarcely' are used to express that one event is happens immediately after another event. 'no sooner' is followed by 'than' while 'hardly/barely/scarcely' are followed by 'when'.
The usual structure is given below:
- hardly/barely/scarcely.....when: Hardly + had + Sub + V3 + object + when + Sub + V2 + obj.
  - Hardly had they spoken these words (event 1) when the door opened and Arion himself stood before them (event 2).
- no sooner...than: No sooner + had + Sub + V3 + Obj.+ than + Sub + V2 + obj. OR No sooner + did + Sub + V1 + obj. + Sub + V2 + obj.
  - No sooner had I shut the door than I realized I’d left my keys inside.
  - No sooner did I shut the door than I realized I’d left my keys inside.
Sentence A and B precisely follow the above mentioned structures. Thus they are correct.
Sentence C has 'then' instead of 'than', which is wrong.
Sentence D is incorrect because the use of V1 (shoot) is wrong. It should be replaced with Shot (V3).
