Directions: In the following question, a question is followed by three statements I, II and III. Read all the statements to find the answer to given question and then answer accordingly that which statement/s can give the answer alone/together.
A man mixes 40 litres of water in a mixture A of milk and water such that the ratio of milk and water becomes equal in the mixture A. Another mixture B, contains milk and water in the ratio 2: 1 respectively. Now, if 25% of mixture A is added into mixture B, then find the quantity of milk in the resultant mixture B.
Statement I: Initially the ratio of water to milk in the mixture A was 3 : 8, respectively and the quantity of milk in mixture B initially was 30litres more than the quantity of water in mixture B initially.
Statement II: Initially the ratio of water to milk in the mixture A is 3 : 8, respectively and the ratio of milk to water in the mixture B is 19:9, respectively, after adding 25% mixture of A.

Statement I :
Let the quantity of milk and water in mixture A initially be 8x and 3x respectively
So, 8x = 3x + 40; x = 8
So the quantity of milk in the mixture A initially = 64 litres
So the quantity of water in the mixture A initially = 24 litres
So the quantity of water in the mixture A after adding 40 litres of water = 64 litres
Let the quantity of milk and water in mixture B initially be 2y and y respectively
2y – y = 30; y = 30
Quantity of milk in the resultant mixture B = 25% of 64 + 2 × 30 = 76 litres
So, statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question
Statement II :
Initially ratio of milk and water in mixture A = 8:3
Let the quantity of milk and water in mixture A initially be 8x and 3x respectively
So, 8x = 3x + 40; x = 8
So the quantity of milk in the mixture A initially = 64 litres
So the quantity of water in the mixture A initially = 24 litres
So the quantity of water in the mixture A after adding 40 litres of water = 64 litres
Let the quantity of milk and water in mixture B initially be 2y and y respectively
(25% of 64 + 2y)/(25% of 24 + y) = 19/9
y = 30
Quantity of milk in the resultant mixture B = 25% of 64 + 2y = 76 litres
So, statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question
