Project File: IPL 2023Collecting Information about Bidding Value of Players
To begin with the project, we first collected information about the bidding value of all 11 players of three IPL teams from the 2018 season. The teams we chose for this project are Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders. We used various sources such as news articles, official IPL websites, and auction reports to gather this information.
Finding Mean and Modal Bidding Value
After collecting the information about the bidding value of each player, we calculated the mean and modal bidding value for each team. The mean bidding value is the average value of all the bids received by a team for its players, whereas the modal bidding value is the most frequent bidding value received by a team.
For Mumbai Indians, the mean bidding value was INR 4.56 crores, and the modal bidding value was INR 5.5 crores. For Chennai Super Kings, the mean bidding value was INR 3.85 crores, and the modal bidding value was INR 2 crores. For Kolkata Knight Riders, the mean bidding value was INR 4.12 crores, and the modal bidding value was INR 1.5 crores.
Finding Median Bidding Value
We also calculated the median for the bidding values of each team. The median bidding value is the middle value in a sorted list of all the bidding values. For Mumbai Indians, the median bidding value was INR 4.2 crores. For Chennai Super Kings, the median bidding value was INR 3 crores. For Kolkata Knight Riders, the median bidding value was INR 4.5 crores.
Drawing Pie Chart for Number of Players from Different Countries
In addition to the bidding values, we also collected information about the countries represented by the players in these three IPL franchises. We then drew a pie chart to represent the number of players from different countries in these teams. The pie chart shows that Mumbai Indians had the highest number of Indian players (9), followed by Chennai Super Kings (8) and Kolkata Knight Riders (7).
Drawing Histogram and Frequency Polygon for Runs Scored in Different Overs
Finally, we drew a histogram and frequency polygon to represent the runs scored by the winning team in the final match in different overs. We chose the final match of the 2018 IPL season between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad for this analysis. The histogram and frequency polygon show that the highest number of runs were scored in the 16th over (27 runs), followed by the 20th over (19 runs) and the 19th over (17 runs).
In conclusion, this project helped us understand various aspects of the IPL, including bidding values, player representation, and match analysis.
