**Changes in CA Foundation Syllabus from May 2024 Exams**
The Chartered Accountancy (CA) curriculum is periodically revised to ensure that it remains up-to-date and aligned with the evolving industry requirements. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced some changes in the CA Foundation syllabus, which will be applicable from the May 2024 exams. Let's explore the details of these changes:
**1. Removal of Paper-based Examination:**
One of the major changes announced by ICAI is the discontinuation of the traditional paper-based examination. From May 2024 onwards, CA Foundation exams will be conducted in an online mode only. This shift towards the digital format aims to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of the examination process.
**2. Introduction of New Subjects:**
The revised syllabus introduces two new subjects, namely Business Correspondence and Reporting (BCR) and Business and Commercial Knowledge (BCK). These subjects aim to equip aspiring chartered accountants with essential communication and commercial skills, which are vital in the contemporary business environment.
**3. Weightage Redistribution:**
To accommodate the inclusion of new subjects, the weightage of certain existing subjects has been adjusted. The changes in weightage are as follows:
- Principles and Practice of Accounting (P&PA) will carry 40 marks instead of the previous 60 marks.
- Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting (BLBCR) will carry 35 marks each instead of the previous 40 marks each.
- Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics (BMLR&S) will carry 20 marks instead of the previous 40 marks.
- Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge (BEBCK) will carry 30 marks each instead of the previous 40 marks each.
**4. Addition of Internal Assessment Component:**
Under the revised syllabus, certain subjects will have an internal assessment component. The details of the internal assessment will be communicated by ICAI in due course. This addition aims to encourage continuous learning and active participation by students throughout the course.
**5. Updated Study Material:**
ICAI will release updated study material for the CA Foundation course, incorporating the changes in the syllabus. Students are advised to refer to the latest study material provided by ICAI to ensure they are well-prepared for the exams.
It is important for CA Foundation students to familiarize themselves with these changes and plan their studies accordingly. Staying updated with the revised syllabus and utilizing the updated study material will help students stay on track and effectively prepare for the May 2024 exams.
