Eligibility Criteria for Appearing in the JEE Main Exam:

In order to appear for the JEE Main exam, candidates need to fulfill certain eligibility criteria set by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The eligibility criteria include parameters such as age limit, educational qualification, and number of attempts. Let's discuss each of these criteria in detail:

1. Age Limit:
- For candidates belonging to the General category, their date of birth should fall on or after October 1, 1996.
- For candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD categories, there is a relaxation of 5 years, i.e., their date of birth should fall on or after October 1, 1991.

2. Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed their Class 12 examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in the year 2019, 2020, or should be appearing for the same in 2021.
- For admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, candidates must have secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in their Class 12 examination (65% for SC/ST candidates) or should be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
- There is no minimum qualifying marks requirement for candidates to be eligible for the JEE Main examination.

3. Number of Attempts:
- Candidates can attempt the JEE Main examination a maximum of three times consecutively. However, there are no restrictions on the number of attempts in a single year.

4. Aadhaar Card Requirement:
- All candidates, except those from Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and Meghalaya, are required to provide their Aadhaar card details at the time of filling the application form. Candidates from these states can provide any valid government identity proof such as a passport number, ration card number, bank account number, etc.

It is important for candidates to carefully read and understand the eligibility criteria before applying for the JEE Main exam. Failure to meet any of the eligibility conditions may result in the cancellation of the candidate's application or disqualification from the examination. Candidates are advised to visit the official website of the NTA for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding eligibility criteria for the JEE Main exam.
