GATE ME Exam Score Calculation

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a highly competitive exam conducted for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering and technology. Step 1: Raw Score Calculation

- The normalization process takes into account the difficulty level of the exam in each session. It adjusts the marks obtained by candidates based on the average performance of all the candidates in that session.

Step 3: Calculation of Normalized Marks
- The normalized marks are calculated using the formula:
Normalized Marks = (Marks Obtained - Average Marks of the Top 0.1% of the Candidates) / (Average Marks of All the Candidates - Average Marks of the Top 0.1% of the Candidates) * 100

Step 4: Calculation of GATE Score
- The GATE score is calculated based on the normalized marks obtained by the candidate. The formula to calculate the GATE score is:
GATE Score = (Normalized Marks / Maximum Marks) * 1000

Step 5: Calculation of All India Rank (AIR)
- The All India Rank (AIR) is calculated based on the GATE score obtained by the candidate. The higher the GATE score, the better the AIR.
- The AIR is used for admission to various postgraduate programs in engineering and technology, as well as for recruitment by several public sector undertakings (PSUs).

It is important to note that the GATE score is valid for three years from the date of announcement of the results. Candidates can use their GATE score for admission to various institutions or for PSU recruitment during this period.
