Reservation Policy in IIT JAM Physics Exam

IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to the M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, and other post-bachelor degree programs at IITs and integrated PhD programs at IISc.

Reservation Policy

The reservation policy for certain categories in the IIT JAM Physics Exam is in accordance with the guidelines set by the Government of India. The categories that are eligible for reservation include:

1. Scheduled Caste (SC): Candidates belonging to the SC category are provided with a reservation of 15% of the total seats available in each program.

2. Scheduled Tribe (ST): Candidates belonging to the ST category are provided with a reservation of 7.5% of the total seats available in each program.

3. Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL): Candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer) category are provided with a reservation of 27% of the total seats available in each program.

4. Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): Candidates belonging to the EWS category are provided with a reservation of 10% of the total seats available in each program. This reservation is applicable from the academic year 2019 onwards.

5. Persons with Disabilities (PwD): Candidates with disabilities are provided with reservation as per the guidelines of the Government of India. A certain percentage of seats are reserved for PwD candidates in each category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/General).
