Marking Scheme for Section A and Section B Questions in IIT JAM Mathematics Paper

Section A
Section A of the IIT JAM Mathematics paper consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). In this section, candidates are provided with four options for each question, and they have to choose the correct answer among them. The marking scheme for Section A is as follows:

- Each question carries 1 or 2 marks, depending on the question.
- For every correct answer, candidates are awarded the full marks assigned to that question.
- There is negative marking for incorrect answers in some questions. For questions carrying 1 mark, 1/3 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. For questions carrying 2 marks, 2/3 mark is deducted for each incorrect response.
- Unanswered questions do not have any negative marking.

Section B
Section B of the IIT JAM Mathematics paper consists of multiple-choice questions with multiple correct answers (MCQ-MCA). In this section, candidates are provided with four options for each question, but there can be more than one correct answer. The marking scheme for Section B is as follows:

- Each question carries 2 marks.
- For every correct choice(s) selected by the candidate, they are awarded the full marks assigned to that question.
- There is no partial marking for Section B questions. If a candidate chooses one or more incorrect options along with the correct ones, they do not receive any marks for that question.
- Unanswered questions do not have any negative marking.
