Eligibility Criteria for IIT JAM Chemistry
To apply for seats in IITs through IIT JAM Chemistry, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for IIT JAM Chemistry are as follows:
Academic Qualifications:
- The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in any branch of science (such as chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, etc.) from a recognized university.
- The minimum aggregate marks required in the qualifying degree is 55% or equivalent CGPA/CPI for General/OBC-NCL category candidates. However, for SC/ST/PwD category candidates, the minimum marks required is 50%.
Qualifying Examination:
- The candidate must have appeared in the final examination of their bachelor's degree program in the year of JAM examination or in the previous year. For example, if the JAM examination is conducted in 2022, the candidate should have appeared in the final examination in 2021 or 2022.
- Candidates who have completed their degree requirements and are awaiting results or those who are due to appear in the final examination are also eligible to apply, provided they can submit the proof of qualifying degree during the time of admission.
Age Limit:
- There is no age restriction for appearing in the IIT JAM Chemistry examination. Candidates of any age can apply.
Nationality:
- Indian nationals, as well as foreign nationals, are eligible to apply for IIT JAM Chemistry.
Reservation:
- Reservation of seats for various categories is applicable as per the Government of India norms. The percentage of reserved seats for different categories is as follows:

- SC: 15%
- ST: 7.5%
