At the very beginning of the formation of celestial bodies from their melt constituent the free surface of the melt constituent tends to have minimum surface area due to surface tension and of all given geometrical shapes at a time the sphere has least surface area .As a consequence the planet takes the shape which gives it least surface area in the absence of external forces of vaccum space .To know more please refer to ch2 part 2 pradeep and read "MOLECULAR THEORY OF SURFACE TENSION"

I think you meant celestial objects from heavenly bodies. So,they are in the shape of an oblate spheriod because initially when the are forming they are in the liquid form and due to the initial torque they started rotating and spinning. Due liquid form and gravitational tidal forces they took the shape of an oblate spheriod.
