The students of two classes are in the ratio 5:7 if 10 students left f...
Given:

Ratio of students in two classes = 5:7

10 students left from each class

Remaining students ratio = 4:6

To find:

Number of students in each class

Solution:

Let the total number of students in the two classes be 5x and 7x respectively.

Step 1: Find the number of students left in each class after 10 students left

Number of students left in class 1 = 5x - 10

Number of students left in class 2 = 7x - 10

Step 2: Find the ratio of remaining students

Ratio of remaining students = 4:6 = 2:3

Let the number of remaining students in class 1 be 2y and in class 2 be 3y.

Step 3: Form equations using the given information

We know that the number of students left in each class is equal to the number of remaining students in the respective classes.

5x - 10 = 2y

7x - 10 = 3y

Step 4: Solve for x and y

Multiplying the first equation by 3 and the second equation by 2, we get:

15x - 30 = 6y

14x - 20 = 6y

Subtracting the second equation from the first, we get:

x = 10

Substituting x = 10 in either of the equations, we get:

2y = 20

y = 10

Step 5: Find the number of students in each class

Number of students in class 1 = 5x = 5(10) = 50

Number of students in class 2 = 7x = 7(10) = 70

Answer:

The number of students in class 1 is 50 and in class 2 is 70.
