Verified Answer
The rates of hiring a rental car are as follows:Rs. 800 per 8 hours up...
Sunil travel 250km from A to B.
Total time he took = 9 Hrs
Rates of hiring car are:
⇒8hr up to 80Km = Rs.800
Per extra Hour = Rs.100
Per extra Km = Rs.10
Sunil' s total distance is 250Km.
For first 80km he pay = Rs.800----(i)
Left (250 - 80 = 170Km)
He pay according to Km = 170 × 10 = 1700---(ii)
But, He use extra 1hr for this he pay = Rs.100-----(iii)
Total money he pay = Rs.800 + Rs.1700 + Rs.100 = Rs.2600
In complete travelling he pay = Rs.2600.
∴ Option B is correct.

Rental Car Calculation
To determine the total cost for Sunil's rental car, we need to break down the charges based on the rental rates provided.
1. Total Distance Traveled
- Sunil travels from city A to B: 250 km
2. Time Taken for the Journey
- Departure: 7:00 am
- Arrival: 4:00 pm
- Total Travel Time: 9 hours
3. Base Charges for Rental
- Initial Rate: Rs. 800 for 8 hours up to 80 km
- Additional Time: 1 hour (9 hours - 8 hours)
- Extra Charge for Time: Rs. 100 per extra hour
- Total Extra Time Charge: Rs. 100
4. Distance Charges
- Base Distance: 80 km
- Total Distance: 250 km
- Extra Distance: 170 km (250 km - 80 km)
- Charge for Extra Distance: Rs. 10 per extra km
- Total Extra Distance Charge: Rs. 10 x 170 km = Rs. 1,700
5. Total Cost Calculation
- Base Charge: Rs. 800
- Extra Time Charge: Rs. 100
- Extra Distance Charge: Rs. 1,700
Final Amount
- Total Cost: Rs. 800 + Rs. 100 + Rs. 1,700 = Rs. 2,600
Thus, the total amount Sunil has to pay for renting the car is Rs. 2,600. The correct option is (b) Rs. 2,600.
