Diffrence between sublimation and distillation ?
Sublimation is the phase transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas phase without passing through the intermediate liquid phase. Sublimation is an endothermic process that occurs at temperatures and pressures below a substance's triple point in its phase diagram, which corresponds to the lowest pressure at which the substance can exist as a liquid. The reverse process of sublimation is deposition or desublimation, in which a substance passes directly from a gas to a solid phase.Sublimation has also been used as a generic term to describe a solid-to-gas transition (sublimation) followed by a gas-to-solid transition (deposition)Distillation is the process of separating the components or substances from a liquid mixture by selective boiling and condensation. Distillation may result in essentially complete separation (nearly pure components), or it may be a partial separation that increases the concentration of selected components of the mixture. In either case the process exploits differences in the volatility of the mixture's components. In industrial chemistry, distillation is a unit operation of practically universal importance, but it is a physical separation process and not a chemical reaction.I hope you get the answer

Diffrence between sublimation and distillation ?
Sublimation vs Distillation

Definition

  • Sublimation: Sublimation is the process of converting a solid directly into a gas without passing through the liquid state.

  • Distillation: Distillation is a process of separating components of a mixture based on their boiling points.

Process

  • Sublimation: In sublimation, the solid is heated to a point where it directly converts into a gas without passing through the liquid state. The gas is then cooled and condensed into a solid again.

  • Distillation: In distillation, the mixture is heated to a temperature where the component with the lowest boiling point evaporates first. The vapor is then condensed and collected as a liquid, while the remaining mixture is heated further to evaporate the component with the next lowest boiling point. This process is repeated until all components have been separated.

Uses

  • Sublimation: Sublimation is used in a variety of applications including freeze-drying of food and pharmaceuticals, purification of certain chemicals, and the creation of air fresheners and insecticides.

  • Distillation: Distillation is used in a variety of industries including the production of fuels, pharmaceuticals, and alcoholic beverages.

Equipment

  • Sublimation: Sublimation can be carried out using specialized equipment such as sublimation apparatus or vacuum ovens.

  • Distillation: Distillation requires specialized equipment such as a distillation column and a condenser.

Conclusion

In conclusion, sublimation and distillation are two different processes used for different purposes. Sublimation is used to convert a solid directly into a gas without passing through the liquid state, while distillation is used to separate components of a mixture based on their boiling points. Both processes require specialized equipment and are used in a variety of industries.
